We need to talk about Selkirk's pickleball shoes

Let’s elevate our pickleball court shoe game in 2025.

People often show up for matches in running shoes, tennis shoes, or lifestyle shoes. That's fine, but these products aren’t specifically made for a sport with sudden lateral movements and pivots, and improper footwear can ultimately lead to injury.

More high-quality apparel brands and notable pickleball brand have started to team up to create proper court shoes, and Selkirk has officially entered the chat.

Released earlier this month, the Selkirk CourtStrike and CourtStrike Pro are supportive, durable, and attractive.

“The CourtStrike Pro is absolutely amazing. In typical Selkirk fashion, every single detail has been considered and tested, then tested some more,” said Chris Carson, the VP of Marketing for Pickleball Central, who was formerly known as "DJ Selkirk" at PPA Tour events. “It’s comfortable, it looks amazing, and it just works.”

Selkirk pro Jack Sock will also be sporting these shoes at upcoming tournaments so we’ll get to see how they hold up with his fast-paced playing style.

“The Selkirk shoes have been a hit on Pickleball Central and it’s no surprise to us. The amount of research and development that Selkirk put into the shoe was tremendous,”said John Cowley of Pickleball Central. “Their commitment to coming out with a fully tested, pickleball-specific shoe shines through in the performance of the product. And they look good, too.”

Offered in both men’s and women’s sizes, the Selkirk shoes are worth of a try.

Here are some of the highlights:

-       4-way grip design engineered for multi-directional traction

-       Rubber composition for long-lasting abrasion resistant play

-       Lightweight and breathable fabric for ventilation and airflow

-       High rebound midsole for shock absorption and energy responsiveness

The shoes come with a six-month warranty that covers the rubber outsole.

Sizing

According to Selkirk, the shoes run true to size. If you're interested in the CourtStrike and you have wider feet, consider sizing up a half size.

For narrow-footed players, the CourtStrike Pro might feel slightly spacious in the toe box, so consider sizing down a half size if you prefer a tighter fit.

Aesthetics

I’m partial to the white pine color CourtStrike because it’s the kind of sleek combo that could go with a variety of fits and still look fabulous. And if I wanted to level up to the CourtStrike Pro, I’d go for the atmosphere blue for a pop of color.

But I appreciate the all white and black that can truly go with any look.

For the guys, I love this sandstone color. And the ozone is so subtly cool. It’s honestly hard to choose which I like best, and that's a good problem to have.

I can’t wait to try out Selkrik’s new pickleball shoes. See you on the court!
